The main key steps and dates for the Dorset County Council in establishing the new Minerals Plan are as follows:

It is important for RAGE to get involved at each stage of the Consultation process so that we can influence the process.

The timetable has slipped by about 1 year from those previous estimated.

Statement of Community Involvement

The Dorset County Council have created a Statement of Community Involvement document. This was finalised earlier in 2007. RAGE provided some comments and suggested changes as part of the Consultancy process.

Minerals Core Strategy (MCS). The key steps to achieve this are as follows:

Evidence gathering
Informal consultation on issues and options - Sept/Oct 2007
Formal consultation on preferred options - April/May 2008
Submission to Secretary of State and Consultation - Nov/Dec 2008
Examination and Adoption - Throughout 2009

Minerals Site Allocation Document (MASD). This is key as it will identify specific sites for the extraction of minerals. The key steps to achieve this are as follows:

Evidence gathering - on going
Informal consultation on issues and options - early 2008
Formal consultation on preferred options - Early 2008
Submission to Secretary of State and Consultation - Late 2009
Examination and Adoption - Throughout 2010
